About this tool
Social platforms, marketplaces and CMS themes all ask for specific image sizes. Instead of opening an editor, drop your files here to see width, height, aspect ratio, file size and format at once.
The tool reads each image with your browser's built-in decoder, so the files are never uploaded.
How to use the Image Dimensions Checker
- Drag images onto the box, or click it and choose files.
- Wait a moment while each image is read.
- Check dimensions, aspect ratio, size and format beside each preview.
- Use Copy info on one image, or Copy all info for the full list.
Practical examples
How it works
The file is turned into a temporary object URL held in memory and loaded into an image element. The browser then reports its natural width and height. The aspect ratio is those two numbers divided by their greatest common divisor, and the decimal ratio is width / height.
File size and name come from the File API. Format is taken from the file's MIME type, falling back to its extension. Dimensions describe the pixels stored in the file and ignore display scaling. Some browsers apply EXIF rotation automatically, which can swap width and height for phone photos.
Privacy and file processing
Images are opened locally using your browser. They are not uploaded, stored or shared.
See our Privacy Policy for details on cookies, local storage and advertising.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Files are read in your browser and nothing is sent over the network.
Why does a phone photo show swapped dimensions?
Phones often store orientation in EXIF data. Modern browsers apply it when decoding.
Which formats work?
Whatever your browser can display: normally JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP, SVG and, in recent browsers, AVIF.
Why is the file size different from my editor?
Editors may show size on disk or before export. This shows the exact size of the file you selected.
